You Can Put Lipstick on a Pig...

The Democrats are trying to pass financial reform and get our money back from the big banks. Who could be against that, right, especially after the big banks basically opened gambling casinos and went bankrupt with their customers' money.

Now they don't want any regulation to try to keep it from happening again. And conservatives and teabaggers seem to want to keep the Democrats from passing legislation that the Democrats are proposing. Republicans are being their typical obstructionist selves. They talk about fiscal responsibility, but when it comes to doing anything, they walk away. Worse yet, they try to blame Democrats for the lack of action.

Here's an ad by an outside group that is calling the big banks and Republicans out for their lack of cooperation.

Jay-Ney, I rejected one of your comments due to its offenive nature. Just so you know, I was raised Jewish, I've never been a Republican.

That was about as offensive a comment as I've seen in a long time and I won't tolerate that kind of anti-semitism on my blog.

Sorry Bruce I didn't know. I used to be a christian and you have said almost the same things about them. You blame christians and I blame jews. What is the difference? It didn't bother me in the least and it shouldn't bother you. I wont do it again. Are we good?

Jay-Ney, I don't think I referred to f'ing Christians.

Plus you made a generalization about all Jews being bankers and running the country's banks. That is a stereotype. Christians actually do wield political power and have taken control of the Republican party.

We're good.

Stereotypes are so easy to promote - and so often wrong. In our recent history, before there was an Italian Mafia, there was an Irish Mafia - and before them, a Jewish Mafia. I use the term - mafia - but that isn't exactly correct. Mafia is Italian slang for clan. Anyone who has studied American history knows that immigrants banded together for self preservation when they first came over here. Often that grab for equality resulted in power grabs. The proverbial "asphalt jungle" We had the wild west also. The struggle for equality crossed all ethnic lines. The only one to permanently come up on the short end of the stick are native Americans. Even blacks have obtained a measure of equality - politically if not economically. My point is, it is useless and inaccurate to label one ethnic group as the cause of any singular advantage. In reality, there is but one barrier - class! The gap between rich and poor has never been wider. The buffer - the middle class - is fast disappearing - and if we don't do things to change that we will end up like centuries of European societies - peons and nobility - rich and poor.
