Oakland County Democrats and Republicans Choose New Leaders

On Tuesday night Oakland County Democrats paid homage to their leader, Dave Woodward, who has lead Oakland County Democrats to tremendous electoral success since taking over as county chair. Dave stepped aside on Tuesday and turned over the reins to Mike McGuinness. Mike was the campaign manager of Andy Meisner's campaign for Oakland County Treasurer.

I wish Dave the best in any new endeavor he takes on and with his talent, I hope he has aspirations for higher elected office. I also congratulate Mike McGuinness as he takes over the reins during an exciting time for Democrats in Oakland County.

The Oakland County Democratic Party has been working hard for the last 4 years preparing for this November's elections. Oakland Democrats are ready to defend every incumbent and ready to take new seats to make Oakland county Democratic from top to bottom.

The Republicans have never been weaker. Now is the time for all of us to get to work to make sure our country doesn't go to hell in a handbasket.

Oakland County Dems Honor Aldo Vagnozzi

The Oakland County Democratic Party Pasta Night to honor state representative Aldo Vagnozzi was a huge success. Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow honored Aldo, as did many other elected officials from Oakland county. The hightlight of the evening though was Aldo himself. His speech was full of stories of his long career in politics and Aldo's unique brand of humor. Also started out by saying, "You're probably wondering how long I'm going to talk. As Elizabeth Taylor used to tell her husbands, 'I won't keep you long.'"

Thanks to everyone on the committee for putting together another rousing success for Oakland County Democrats. There was so much excitement in the room. Democrats can't wait to get to work to make sure we have a Democratic Congress and a new Democratic president inaugurated in January of 2009. We certainly can't afford a third Bush term with John McBush.
