Grow a Pair President Obama

It's time for the White House to grow a pair. It's way past time for the United States of America to cover every American with health care. As evidenced by the free clinics that have been held across the country, Americans are suffering in huge numbers by the fact that the insurance industry has been ripping off consumers for decades. It's time for it to end and it's up to President Obama to lead and if the Republicans don't want to cooperate, then pass them by and get it done with reconciliation. It's time to go on offense, Democrats and stop cowering in the corner.

Ed Schultz' impassioned plea on health care

Free clinic are a great idea. But the health care they tryed to put through was garbage. The Democrats had a filibuster proof Congress and the blew it. They used that power to get little things for their district. And Congress is no friend to Obama either. They made him look like a liar to the American people by letting Americans loose their health care coverage they currently have. If they can't pick apart that 2000 pg bill and get some good change for health care and not payoffs to special interest. The Democrats still have the largest majority in decades and they can't get anything done. Other then jobs bills that don't work. Congress and the President better start putting we the people first or else. And you on the left should be more pissed then anyone for their games instead of making things happen.

It is unfathomable that Obama and the Democrats even with a super majority, have failed to pass health care reform.

Chris, believe me, if Democrats don't get health care done, we will be pissed.

Chris said...

I'm sure you will be pissed. But you should be pissed at those with the power. Instead you will most likely deflect your anger onto the Tea Party or the Republican party. Thats like beating your dog because you got fired from work. I got that saying from Anon on my blog. It works though.

No, Chris, I will be mad at the Democrats and the President, for not fighting harder for the Americans that desperately need health care, those people at the free clinics that are working 2 and 3 jobs and still can't get health insurance or the people that can't get health insurance because of a pre-existing condition or the people that get cut off in the middle of their cancer treatment.

Those are the people that this is really is really all about, not the ideologues like, Chris, and the rest of your teabagger friends.

How can you blame Obama for the health care? It's Congress that fucked this up. If we don't get health care there will be riots in DC.

Bruce Fealk said...

Jay-Ney, I can blame him because he didn't show enough leadership and urging Congress to get the job done and a way through.

Recently, according to stories on The Ed Show, the President has been MIA when it comes to pressing health care forward and if you noticed at the meeting with the Democratic Senate Caucus the other day, there were no questions on health care, apparently by design.

Chris - There has been much ballyhoo about a 60 vote majority when in reality there was two independent votes - Lieberman and Sanders within that "60". We all know the stories about the so called "conservative Dems" who in reality sabotage everything as much as the Republicans. It turns out they, like their Republican colleagues, were bought off by the insurance industry. So that "majority" is at best misleading.

I disagree with your assessment of the jobs bills - and so do some notable economists. If you had taken the time to check it out, you would be aware that virtually throughout the Bush years, we saw jobs steadily declining. The hole was so deep, that jobs growth meant just keeping it from getting worse - which Obama has done.

I submit that "the people" is exactly what the Dems and the President are trying to put first. The people in my mind, is the middle class. The plans for helping the middle class, despite Republican obstruction and wavering conservative Dems, has had modest success. All this talk from the Right about balanced budgets is but a straw man designed to derail REAL efforts to better the lives of the middle class. We had over 30 years of trickle down economics - and this recession is living proof it doesn't work.

The only area we even remotely agree on is your statement "making things happen". Yes, it is time we Dems "make things happen". Hence the call for "growing a pair". As much as it is true the Republicans have engaged in unprecedented obstruction, it SHOULD be true that the Dems need to get REAL aggressive and push through their agenda. That old cliche come to mind "Nice guys finish last".

Either way Mike the Democrats still have the largest majority,in both houses,in decades. And you and I both know that those Independents vote Democrat 9 out of 10 times. But if you want to split hair have at it. The democrats had more power then they knew what to do with it. And they couldn't get anything done with it other then push the Republicans farther away. Now they need the Republicans and they wont be there. Hard ball gets played and then the Democrats cry when they don't get a run. The Democrats misused their power and now they have to rethink how they will get things done. Don't forget it was Obama,Pelosi and Reid that told the Republicans to sit down and shut up because they didn't need them. The Progressacrats pissed off the Reagan Democrats and that is where their problem was. It sucks to be a progresive right now. The higher they are the harder they fall.

I'm glade to see you took my advice on posting something that is real instead of the teabaggers. I still don't see how you can blame Obama for what Congress is doing? That is retarded. Obama is a Progressive. It is the Democrats that are screwing things up for us progressives. Why do you go after the man that is our friend and wants what we want? Go after the Democrats that are pushing away from the Progressive agenda not the ones to it. Pick your battles wisely. You need a lot of guidance over here.

Bruce Fealk said...

Jay-Ney, I disagree that President Obama is a progressive. President Obama may have campaigned as a progressive, but ever since he's been in office, I believe due to the influence of Rahm Emanuel, Emanuel has been pulling him to the center.

That's unfortunate. I believe the President is a progressive at heart, but he's playing a dangerous game of trying to play to the middle, which will have only the effect of alienating the left and the right. The base is completely demoralized and polls show large numbers of people that voted for President Obama won't show up to vote in November.

The Democratic tent is pretty large and unfortunately has a lot of conservadems in it and they are the ones that have been pushing back on President Obama's agenda, especially Joe Lieberman, Ben Nelson, Blanche Lincoln, Mary Landrieu.

Since the President is the de facto leader of the Democratic Party, it is his role to lead the Democrats and in my opinion, he hasn't done that effectively or enough.

Health care is a battle worth fighting, Jay-Ney. If nothing gets done and the President and Congress walk away from health care reform, it will be devastating to Democrats. The tea baggers will have won and the American people will have lost, big time.

I was doing fine before you showed up, Jay-Ney. Feel free to contribute, but your statement that I need lots of help is just not appreciated or true.

Jay-Ney said...

President Obama is still a Progressive. He's a weak progressive but he is a true blue progressive in thought and in word. It's the blue dogs that are pushing Congress away from progression. As you said Bruce. The teabaggers got a hold of Congress and fucked everything up big time. They haven't given anything for Obama to sign or turn down. Fuck that shit it isn't President Obamas fault. And you people have to start respecting President Obama. Start calling him and treating him with respect. I've never heard such disrespect to a DemocratIC president.Tell me you don't have a problem giving a black man respect? I don't think that's how you are cut.

Bruce Fealk said...

Jay-Ney, I hope you aren't referring to me as far as your respect for a black man comment.

I disagree, Jay-Ney, President Obama has not shown the leadership in office that he showed on the campaign trail.

He may be getting his sea legs now. His performance at the House Republican retreat was the Obama I remember.

If I didn't respect President Obama I wouldn't have worked, donated and called on his behalf during the campaign.

I'd appreciate your toning down your language, at least over here, Jay-Ney. I appreciate your passion, but your cursing isn't necessary here.

The Congressional Democrats have to grow a pair too, and get health care passed, but President Obama does take some of the blame. He has done a poor job rallying the base to come out for what is a way weaker plan than most Democrats wanted and expected from this President and Congress.

Jay-ney - we progressives were expecting an FDR - and we are not seeing it. Given the circumstances he is facing, it can be easily argued that he has done remarkably well. But it is not enough - also given the circumstances and the opposition he is facing. As the cliche goes, he seems to be bringing a knife to a gun fight. Horrible metaphors, but apt. We are facing an unprecedented and devious challenge to his very Presidency, and that calls for extreme measures in fighting back. We are not seeing a lot of that, and that is why we progressives are so frustrated and angry. Ironically, the tea party movement, while laced with racism and corporatism, has some legitimate complaints. The problem with them, is they see it as too much government when in fact the problem is not enough government - GOOD GOVERNMENT! The problem in a nut shell is corporatocracy. That is what is ruining our country. I just wish they could see that. Capitalism is our economic system NOT OUR POLITICAL SYSTEM. We are fooling ourselves if we think the answer to our problems is "
Llaissez Faire capitalism.'

Hey, Chris, why is it when you comment on my blog you can spell, but on your blog there are misspellings every word or two? Just asking. Are you sure it's the same person writing comments over here and the person writing writing your entries on Bonsai from the Right? Doesn't look like it to me.

Chris said...

I take my time on your blog Bruce. I reread my shorter posts. But yes I am the same person that writes both. I'm a slow typer and a fast thinker as well as not being able to spell very good. But I also take the time to look up misspelled words only part of the time. I know how easy my mispellings distaked you so I'm just trying to be nice. I would know if someone had my blogger ID as I do read my posts. Just think of it as part of my charm. Just like your good friend JayNey's charm is swearing. And yours is only using the left wing talking points handed you by moveon.org,Madcow and Olbertmenn.LOL

Bruce Fealk said...

It's hard to believe you're the same person, given how badly you spell and how bad your grammar is on your own blog. I find it hard to believe you take more time here with your comments, than you do on your own blog.

Be that as it may, I do not talk talking points from anyone, for your information.
