President Obama Goes Toe to Toe with House Republicans

President Obama went to Baltimore, MD today to meet with House Republicans. He held an hour and a half Q & A session with them, but he took control of the session and made them out to the the liars and obstructionists that we know the Republicans are. I don't know if he won anyone over, I sincerely doubt it, but this is what I want to see more of, President Obama calling out Republicans on their lies.

About damn time.

I'm glad he did it with cameras. The purpose shouldn't be to convince the Repugs in Congress (he won't). The purpose should be to convince the American people.

Mentioning that they took the stimulus money they voted against was gold.

He wasted his time talking with those assholes. They should have told Bin Ladin where all the Republicans were. He would have changed their minds. There is no way Republicans and Progressives can live together. I was just at a class on that subject. And their isn't much room for moderates either.

Jay-Ney, I think it was worth it just for the theatre and to call the Republicans out and the campaign commercials that can be made with footage from this event.

Jay-Ney, did you just say that Obama should've allowed bin Laden to blow up the Republicans?

Anyone wish to bet me that despite his speech - despite his continuing effort to reach out to Republicans - they will still be solidly the Party of NO? When will Obama get it through his head that their only goal is to delegitimize his Presidency. And a Right Wing media and inept reporters will still foster the negative spin.

I agree, Mike. That's why I'm glad they did it with cameras. The goal shouldn't be about convincing the House Repugs, it should be about convincing the American people.

Let us hope djtyg, that the rest of the voters come November, are not as stupid as those in Mass. Nor that they stay home. 2010's election may be as important as 2008 was.

Jay-Ney - Don't be fooled, Bin Laden and his followers don't give a rats ass which Party rules here. They are on a mission to destroy our country regardless of who is in power. We can no more placate them then we can the Republicans. We can however, change our foreign policy so they no longer have fertile ground in which to recruit new people. You don't make friends and influence people by invading or occupying they country.

Well, Mike, if the Dems want the base to show up in November, they better start working for the American people and quit making excuses. The base is depressed for a reason.

If both sides are offering you a shit sandwich, there's no point in ordering from the menu.

The American people support Obama's agenda. Polling has shown that all around. When people get past the bullshit McCarthyistic mantras on the right-wing, they like Obama's policy agenda. The problem is that he never seems like he wants to fight for the agenda.

This video was a good sign that he's more willing to put up a fight, but I hope that now he brings the case to the American people in interviews through his staff and other Dems in Congress, not just himself in front of some Republicans.

Well I can't say it any better than djtyg. That was right on, especially the shit sandwhich part, I literally lauged my ass off at that! LOL

I have to say though that we have the true blue Democrats. F the Rethuglicans, they are a fringe group. All we have to get are the Independents. Show them that we are fighting for a progressive America of free health care, education and a solid but not imperialistic defense and we will win the day.

Bruce thank you for adding me to the mailing list. I joined up wht the groups you suggested too, and I hope everyone her does the same. United we STAND! Woot!

djtyg - you make a good point about a "shit sandwich" but I am reminded of the civil war where we (the North) were so convinced the South was incapable of putting up a fight - but it was we who failed to stand and fight - battle after battle. We nearly lost. Was not the preservation of the Union sufficient? I know - the right generals - the industrialized North, etc, etc won in the end. But we progressives had better realize we have a battle on our hands to preserve our Democracy. You don't win that by throwing in the towel.

Forgot to ask, are there any other Progressive blogs you would suggest? Do any of you have blogs of your own? Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks!

crap, also forgot to mention that local blogs or such would be great, to get into the political scene more!

Bruce Fealk said...

Drew, I would recommend several blogs, if you're not already familiar with them.
Michigan Liberal

Blogging For Michigan
Huffington Post

I was doing some interviews during the last election cycle and interviewed several people whose interview you may find interesting
Michigan Progress

Democratic Underground

Bruce what is the deal? Why did you stop my post? Didn't it go through? Good to see Drew is here. That shit meal is funny djtyg. I was wrong about you. I hear you smoke pot too. Good for you. I just became legal. Some doctors in Southfield have a setup. It's the only way to go. I took a class on hydro and it was really cool. Did you know that Mexico is legal now? Bruce couls you do a Michigan Medical Marijuana blog? Like I always say God made pot not pills.

Jay-Ney said...

Bruce you are the man. I didn't know you did the Democratic Underground. You are the man. How did you get to interview those people?

Bruce Fealk said...

Jay-Ney, I rejected your comment because I'm trying to keep things civil between progressives.

I know DJ, and I don't want any progressives bitch slapping any other progressives in public here.

Thanks for understanding.

Bruce Fealk said...

I don't do Democratic Underground. I was merely point Drew to some liberal blogs that he might want to visit.

Jay-Ney said...

I'm sorry Bruce he pisses me off sometime but I'll get over it. I was joking about the bin ladin thing and he tried to make me sound like I'm a terrorist. If from the hood of Flint and that is how we talk. I will white it up for you if that makes it easier for your white progressives. I said Democrat underground but meant to say Mich.Progress. Bruce you need to get more blacks to interview. Have you done anything with the progessive New Black Panther Party? We are doing some great things in Flint and other cities. I have some great connections that you would love to interview within the Democrat party. They are big players in DC right now. Just let me know. Once again djtyg i don't want to fight with you but i looked you up and see you are cool with me. Is that cool with you?

Bruce Fealk said...

Jay-Ney, I did try to interview John Conyers, but we never got it together. His staff called me and said he'd make himself available, but it never happened.
If you have some high profile black leaders that would be willing to come on my show, I'd love to have them.

I hope you will refer to the Democratic party, not the Democrat party. That is something the Republicans started and it really annoys me that they do it all the time.

You don't have to "white" anything up, but I don't want these comments to become too much like Chris' blog.

Jay-Ney said...

I left a message with John Conyers. He is a friend of my brothers. He will get back with me and I will get make sure he gives you a call. I also emailed him with your blog. I also contacted my other friends in Washington and I'm sure they will do the same. Would you be willing to go to Washington if needed?

Bruce Fealk said...

Jay-Ney, I can't go to Washington to do the interviews.

I would be willing to visit them at their local offices, assuming they're in the Detroit area.

DJ said...

No, Jay-Ney, don't smoke pot. Thanks for the compliment on the shit sandwich, though.

All one can do with Republicans is talk at them. Fortunately when President Obama did that in Baltimore it was like seeing Zatoichi cut down villain after villain...

Won't change anything though...
